I was able to purchase a replacement bible on ebay for Erin and she returned this bible back to Ohio. See the story below. Inside of the bible was the name Gladys Kraner. I found out that Gladys is a granddaughter of William and Mary Kennedy. Samira Kennedy was the daughter of Mary Lance Kennedy and William Kerr Kennedy. Homer Jones was the first-born child of Ellsworth Jones & Samira Kennedy and their 2nd daughter was Gladys Marie Jones (3/16/1909-1/21/2009) who married Harold Leonard Kraner (6/16/1910-1/29/1995) in 1930. This is her obituary.  She must have kept the bible until she died in 2009 and at that time it was sold on ebay. The bible was certainly used since the cover is off and the bible needs rebound. It was a very beautiful, leather, gold embossed bible and must have cost quite a bit in 1875.

Gladys M. Kraner, 99, of 801 North Park Road, Crestline, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Galion Extended Care Unit, Galion.

Gladys was born in New Winchester, on March 16, 1909 to the late Homer and Ethel (Neal) Jones. She married Harold L. Kraner on June, 25, 1930 and he preceded her January 29, 1995.

Gladys was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. She was a member of the Golden Age Club, Crestline Women's Club, and the Crestline Historical Society. She worked on the Election Board for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling, cooking and trying new recipes. Gladys worked at the former Theller's Drug Store and former Fashion Wise Dress Shop, Crestline. Her grandsons and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Bise and Deirdre Sherer, both of Crestline. Four grandsons, Ricki Salvati, Crestline, Michael and Pam Miller, Lewis Center, Bret and Sharon Ruhe, Galion, Brian Ruhe, Crestline, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her sister, Violet Kraner.

Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline on Saturday, January 24 at 10:30 A.M, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.

Amazing Story - Photos of William Kerr Kennedy and Mary Lance Kennedy Bible

Thank you to Erin Kelley for these pictures. An amazing story, Erin purchased a bible many years ago on ebay. She was curious of who the bible belonged to and searched the internet. She found this Baker Family website and matched the names with the engraving on front of the bible. She posted a comment and we were able to talk. She was gracious enough to take her time to take some pictures of the bible and send them to me. This is the William Kerr Kennedy and Mary Lance Kennedy's bible. It has a publisher date of 1875. These are handwritten dates of the marriages, births and deaths. It is amazing that someone would have this bible and be able to find the family it originated from. Erin says she enjoys reading the bible and uses it as reference. Thank you Erin for taking your time to share these pictures with our family.

MARION: A soft spoken man with a heart of gold, Jeff Augenstein, left this world much too early on Saturday, December 5, 2015. He was 56 years young and of Marion.

On April 2, 1959, Jeff was born in Marion, Ohio, the son of Paul Augenstein and Peggy (Oldaker) Augenstein. He graduated from River Valley High School in the class of 1977, where he excelled in sports, especially basketball.

Shortly following graduation, Jeff began working at the Ohio American Water Company, now Aqua America, working his way up to being the water plant operator. He was dedicated to his company for over thirty eight years.

In 1984, Jeff's life changed forever as he was set up on a blind date, by mutual friends, with Lori Baker, who would quickly become the love of his life. They were married on April 23, 1988, sharing over thirty one wonderful years and lovingly raised two daughters: Carly and Halle.

Whenever Jeff had a free moment, he loved to spend it working in the garage, cleaning and restoring his old cars. For the past several years, he had been restoring his ride from high school, his 1967 Chevy Camaro…and it was nearly complete. Meticulous with his cars, you also can't see a speck of dust on his 1966 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, his 1989 Mercury Cougar, or his 2002 Monte Carlo.

With a love for the open road, Jeff didn't only ride in his muscle cars, but he also thoroughly enjoyed riding one of his many motorcycles he's had over the years. He was an excellent water skier. He also was a handy man who could fix anything, and was proud of his yard and the hundreds of trees he planted. He was a Star Wars buff, enjoyed a good sci-fi movie, loved reading spy and espionage novels, and was a big teddy bear for his three dogs: Max, Rosie and Violet.

Most important of all to Jeff, were the three special women in his life, his wife and two precious daughters. He was an extremely proud father, and he loved to see his daughters perform in everything they were involved in. He was by far their biggest fan. He also coached Halle's 4th and 5th grade basketball teams for River Valley's Liberty Elementary School.

A soft spoken, kind and gentle man, Jeff also had a goofy side to him. He was so quiet, he often would surprise you with his great sense of humor. He also would do anything anyone ever asked of him…anything.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori Augenstein; two daughters: Carly and Halle Augenstein; father, Paul (Jan) Augenstein; mother, Peggy Augenstein; two siblings: Cheri (Tracey) Zimmer and Jay (Jennifer McGinnis) Augenstein; father-in-law, Robert (Anita) Baker; mother-in-law, Lynette Carlson; three step sisters: Jennifer (Eric) Young, Julie (Dave) Oens, and Melissa (Jeremy) Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, at Crosswood United Methodist Church, 1551 Richland Rd., Marion, OH. Services honoring his life will also be held there at 5 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor Joe Ziraldo officiating.

Obituary for David Martin Simmons

 Martin Simmons, Jr., of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2016 at the age of 70. Visitation for Mr. Simmons is scheduled from 5:30 - 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 10th at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 11th at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul with Bishop Joseph Strickland and Father Hank Lanik concelebrating.
David was born January 25, 1945 in Washington D.C. to David Martin Sr. and Mary Ruth Middleton Simmons. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1967 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. David married Rosmund Hart in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in December 1967. They moved to Sweeney, Texas where David worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. David transferred to Guayama, Puerto Rico, where he and Ro raised their family for thirteen years. After his tenure in Puerto Rico, they moved to Borger, Texas. Upon his retirement from Phillips 66, he and Ro moved to Tyler, where they have made their home for the last 16 years. He was an active member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as an usher at Sts. Peter and Paul Chapel.
David was preceded in death by his father, David Sr. and his brother, Robert.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 48 years, Rosmund; his children, Diana Alvarez and husband Javier of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; David III and his wife Heather of O’Fallon, Missouri; mother, Mary Ruth and sister, Carol Ann of Harvest, Alabama; brothers Tom Simmons of Callaway, Maryland and Frank Simmons of California, Maryland and John of Wildwood, Georgia; grandchildren, Alexis, Javier and Joaquin.

Biographical Sketch of William K. Kennedy

WILLIAM K. KENNEDY is one of the worthy old settlers of Tully Township, Marion County, and has owned and managed the farm where his present home is located for fifty-one years.  Among his friends and neighbors he is considered an authority on matters pertaining not only to agriculture, but also to questions of politics and general moment.  He cast his first Presidential ballot for Martin Van Buren, and has always adhered to the Democracy.  From time to time he has been called upon to serve in public offices, among which have been Constable, Trustee and Supervisor of the township.  He is an extensive land-owner, having three hundred and seventy-five acres in his home farm, and his possessions altogether amount to some eight hundred and twenty acres.  This shows what may be achieved by a young man who possesses energy and ambition, for he began being a good constitution and a strong determination.
     A native of Mifflin County, Pa., our subject was born near the village of Waterloo, Feb.. 16, 1818.  His father, Thomas Kennedy, likewise a native of the Keystone State, was of Irish descent, and his mother was in her girlhood a Miss Nancy Kerr.  She became the mother of five sons and five daughters of whom William was the first-born.  He was born and reared on a farm in his native state, and made the journey to Ohio with his parents in 1832, by team.  The family located near Bucyrus, Crawford County, and it was in that locality that our subject first gained an independent living.  For seven years he worked for farmers by the month, receiving from $10 to $12 for his services.
     In 1844 William Kennedy removed to this county, and bought eighty acres of land on section 17.  A part of this had been improved, and a log cabin stood on the place.  At the end of three years the owner purchased another farm adjoining, and here he has continued to live ever since.  He was married, May 28, 1844, to Margaret, daughter of Jacob and Lydia Shank.  She bore him nine children, and was yet in the prime of life when she was summoned by death, May 28, 1860.  The eldest child, Lydia J., married Samuel Baker, a farmer of Crawford County; Thomas S., a stock dealer and farmer, also lives in Crawford County; Martha, who became the wife of George Watts, a farmer, died when thirty-seven years of age; William J. is a resident of Big Island Township, this county; Emmamarried Madison Roberts, a farmer of Big Island Township; Anzilla is the wife of George Watts, of Polk Township; Ella, whose home is in this township, isMrs. John Hill; and two children died in infancy.
     Jan. 23, 1862, Mr. Kennedy and Miss Mary Lance were united in marriage.  The lady was born Jan. 25, 1827, in Pennsylvania, and is a daughter of George and Susan (Mears) Lance, of German and English extraction, respectively.  Mrs. Kennedy came to this county with her parents when she was only about four weeks old, the journey hither being made by team.  Mr. Lance settled in what is now Crawford County, paying $1.25 per acre for eighty acres of Government land.  There he continued to make his home until he was summoned to his final rest.  Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy have only one child, Mira, who is the wife ofEllsworth Jones, a farmer of Crawford County.
     Both our subject and his estimable wife received their educations in the old-fashioned log school-houses of their youth. Mrs. Kennedy is a member of the Methodist Church, and, like her husband, lends a helping hand to worthy benevolent and religious objects.  Our subject has been quite extensively engaged in stock-raising, and in this, as in nearly everything which he undertakes, he has met with success.

KENNEDY, a prosperous farmer of Big Island Township, Marion County, owns a finely improved homestead on section 10.  He is ever found in the front ranks of all new enterprises and is a friend to education and progress.  His farm lands aggregate some three hundred and eighteen acres, and on his home place there stands a substantial two-story brick residence.      In 1843 a bright youth by the name of William Kennedy (our subject's father) came to this locality from his native state, Pennsylvania, and for a time worked for farmers by the month.  He made the best of his advantages, and at last became a school teacher, receiving at first only $11 a month.  Subsequently he rented a farm, and later was the owner of a good one himself.  He made a success of his various undertakings, devoted himself mainly to stock-raising, and finally became the owner of about eight hundred acres of land.      About 1844 William Kennedy married Margaret Shank, who died June 2, 1860.  Two years later Mr. Kennedy wedded Mary Lance, who is still living, and whose only child is now Mrs. E. Jones, of Crawford County, Ohio.  To the first marriage of our subject's father there were born the following children:  Nancy, deceased; Jane, Mrs. Baker of Crawford County; Thomas, a resident of the same county; Martha, Mrs. George Watts, whose death occurred in March, 1883;James;; Emma, Mrs. Madison Roberts, of this county; Anzilla, Mrs. George Watts, of Crawford County; and Margaret E., Mrs. John Hill.      James W. Kennedy was born Nov. 8, 1853, and was given a good general education, such a one as would fit him for life's duties.  His father gave him substantial assistance when he began farming on his own account.  In 1883 he purchased two hundred and fifteen acres, and a year later bought seventeen acres more.  Again, in 1886 he became the owner of another tract, containing eighty-six acres.     Sept. 21, 1880, Mr. Kennedy married Emma, daughter of P. W. and Adelia (Kilborn) Holverstatt, natives of this county.  The latter died Aug. 3, 1890, but the father is still living.  For years he has been a worker in the Baptist Church, and is identified with the Republican party.  Mrs. Kennedy is one of five children, the others being Clarence K.; Ida L., deceased; Alice A., Mrs. Smith, who is living on the old homestead; and one who died in infancy unnamed.  The union of our subject and wife has been blessed with five children: Mabel Edna, born July 29, 1881; Ethel Grace, Mar. 24, 1885; Clarence Merle, Dec. 21, 1886; Fred Laverne, O t. 17, 1888; and Lois Elberta, Mar. 7, 1892.  Fred Laverne died Sept. 25, 1889.      While Mr. Kennedy has always been an adherent of the Democracy, he, in common with many others, does not give his sanction to the present administration and policy, and if they continue in their course he may transfer his allegiance.  In his religious belief he is a Free-Will Baptist, as is also Mrs. Kennedy, and holds membership in the church at Ruth. Lucy M. Eckley

MARION: Lucy M. Eckley, age 93, of Marion, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Marion General Hospital. Lucy was born June 9, 1922 in Marion, Ohio to the late Nunzio and Eugenia Uliano. Lucy married Jack Eckley on June 26, 1948 at St. Mary Church. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1988. 

Lucy is survived by daughter, Jan Simpson, of Marion, Ohio and sisters, Florence Keller of Marion, Ohio and Susie Baker of Plain City, Ohio. Lucy is predeceased by son, Jack Eckley; brother, Tony Uliano; and sister, Rosemary Burkhardt. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Thomas Buffer at 1PM Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at St. Mary Church with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Baker/Kennedy 2015 Reunion

               About 25 people attended the Baker/Kennedy Family Reunion July 19, 2015. Guests came from Colorado, Atlanta, Georgia, Illinois, Athens, Ohio, Ashtabula County, Ohio and Central Ohio. The family met at Charles and Charlotte Sabino’s home in New Albany. Special Kennedy family guests were invited this year also. All enjoyed a wonderful meal on the outside patio. The rain held off until the end of the reunion. Members gathered and told fond memories and stories of past family members.

                Some favorite memories were of Vernon Baker and his wife Sadie. They lived in Marion in later life and his grandchildren remembered going to the house and always felling welcome. He would make bacon and large pancakes for breakfast and serve them with orange drink. Vernon worked for the railroad all his life and only came back to Marion occasionally. He would bring boxes of fruit and bananas when he came, a new treat. Sadie and the boys lived and worked on the farm when Vernie was gone. They remembered being on the farm and having reunions  when the apple orchard was ready for harvest in the fall.

             Descendants of Thomas and Rose Baker shared that Rose Schell Baker was raised by William Kerr and Mary Lance Kennedy. The story passed down was that this is how Thomas and Rose met, when she was being raised by his grandparents. Rose’s parents were divorced and the children were given to others to raise. Documents were found this year that Rose attended the one room school, Maple Grove, the closest school to the Kennedy farm.

                Sandra Kalas updated us on genealogy and the efforts of Dwight Kennedy who recently joined the Kennedy/Baker family research. They have found the Kennedy’s came from Scotland and possibly are connected to the Culzean Castle in Ary, Scotland. Several members are the family are still researching this and will be traveling to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania for more evidence. Sandra shared a story of her research in Crawford County. She has stopped at the document center to request a copy of Lydia Baker’s will. The clerk looked in disbelief because women at that time never were allowed to file a will. Lydia’s actual will was found in the records and this meant that Lydia was an important person to have been able to file a will. Sandra also discussed the quilt that Beulah Baker finished for her and how she cherished the quilt.

Several others members discussed memories of their childhood and of great family memories.

               The group decided to meet again next year on the 3^rd Sunday of July 2016. This will be July 17, 2016. Charlotte offered to host the gathering at her home next year again and would send invitations in the spring. Sharon is posting the day on the Baker Family website.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Leo Lieux Brassett, Sr. succumbed to pancreatic cancer at 12:15 p.m. on March 31, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones. Leo Brassett was born on July 13, 1923, in New Roads, Louisiana. He always said he was born lucky because it was Friday the 13th. His parents were Philomena Lieux Brassett and Leo Gracien Brassett. One of his greatest prides was that he was of French heritage, and he did extensive genealogical research on his family through Pierre St. Denis De La Ronde. He graduated Catholic High School in Baton Rouge in 1940 as the class Valedictorian. He went on to LSU and graduated from the College of Commerce with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1948. In 1949 he graduated from Louisiana State University Law School with an L.L.B, later changed to Juris Doctorate. His interests in school included: O.D.K. Leadership Fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma Honorary Scholastic, Phi Gamma Mu, also Honorary Scholastic, Gamma Eta Gamma – Legal Fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, Commerce Fraternity, and ATO Social Fraternity. Leo volunteered in 1943 to serve in the United States Army during World War 2. While in the Army, he was in the O.C.S. (Ordinance Department, 1944). He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in 1944 and assigned to Staff and Faculty, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, where he served for two years at Aberdeen as Platoon Leader, Company Commander, and Adjutant/Training Supervisor for a Battalion. The largest part of his service was as a Training Officer in the, "Leadership Training Co.", a company which trained pre-O.C.S. and non-commissioned officers. He left the service in 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant. On July 3, 1946, he married Ruth Simmons of Waldorf, Maryland. From 1949 to 1950 he was an employee of Maryland Casualty Company. In 1950 Leo became General Counsel for Louisiana Companies (35 years). In this position he was Vice-President of Louisiana Insurance Agency, Inc. and Louisiana Companies, Inc. and staff attorney for the Louisiana Fire Insurance Company. He also did law work and notary work, as needed, for the three corporations of Louisiana Companies. He belonged to Rotary Club, St. Aloysius Church, Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Land Title Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association and American Bar Association. He was on the Greater Baton Rouge Safety Council, Louisiana Land Title Rating Bureau, and the American Legion. He was a well-liked and well-respected gentleman who enjoyed recounting his personal stories about his family and Army experiences. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind Ruth, his beloved wife of 68 years, sons, Leo Lieux Brassett, Jr. and wife Milam, Michael Brassett, David Brassett and wife Anne, and daughters, Janine DeMars and Renee' Dunbar Stelly and husband Kenneth. Grandchildren Michael Brassett, Jr. and wife Lindsay, Danielle and husband Jeremy, Samantha DeMars, Kristen Brassett, Noel Brassett, David Brassett and wife Kayla, and Amanda Camel and husband Nick and Shawn Dunbar. Great-grandchildren: Hudson Camel and Atticus Hebert and numerous nieces and nephews. Leo is predeceased by his son, Donald Brassett, twin of David; brother, Dr. Lynwood James Brassett, and sister, Carolyn Brassett Walker and husband Bob. Visitation is to be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with service to follow. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Michael Brassett Jr., David Brassett Jr., Steven Brassett, Mark Brassett, Paul Sevin and Nick Camel. Honorary Pallbearers are J.B. Olinde and Richard Simmons. Hilda Jane Gibb

MARION: Hilda Jane Gibb (nee Baker), 94, died on April 9, 2015, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Worthington, Ohio. 

Hilda was born on March 6, 1921, on a farm in Crawford County to the late Vernon J. Baker and Sadie Thew Baker. She skipped two grades at Kirkpatrick Grade School, graduated from Morral High School in 1938, and attended Kent State University on scholarship before marrying Paul Edward Gibb in 1941. She and Paul reared four sons and eight daughters on their farm in Marion and Crawford counties. In addition to nurturing her family, she assisted with farm work, kept books for the farm, grew and preserved food for the family, and sewed clothing for her daughters and herself. She found time to read everyday, thus modeling a love for education for her children. She and her husband traveled the world in the later years of their marriage. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion.

She is survived by all twelve of her children, Steven Gibb (Constance) of Clermont FL, Jean Gibb Clay (Ambrose) of College Park, GA, Richard (Dick) Gibb (Andrea) of Olympia Fields IL, Mary Gibb Slife of Atlanta, GA, Greg Gibb (Karen) of Arcata, CA, Louis Gibb (Theresa) of Worthington, Ohio, Charlotte Gibb Sabino (Charles) of New Albany, OH, Loraine Gibb Herron (Richard) of Atlanta, GA, Joan Gibb Taylor (Robert) of Columbus OH, Colleen Gibb Hanna (David) of San Diego CA, Barbara Gibb Stanley (Stephen) of Del Mar, Ca, and Margaret (Peggy) Gibb McCullough (Patrick) of Kennewick, WA; and by 34 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren. 

She is predeceased by her husband, Paul, (June 28, 1995); and by all her siblings, Robert Baker, Virginia Baker Ralston, Wyona Baker Furniss, Donald Baker, Dean Baker and Lawrence Baker.

Friends may call at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors on Sunday, April 19, from 2 PM to 5 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Monday, April 20, at 10 AM, in Marion, Ohio with Father John Bakle presiding. Interment will follow at the Caledonia Cemetery. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, a division of Snyder Funeral Homes, are honored to have been chosen to serve the Gibb Family.

William Perry Baker. One of the pioneer personalities who gave the strength of their character and their industry to the up building of Jasper County was the late William Perry Baker and the record of his life runs like a thread of honor and integrity through the greater part of Jasper County's history since the time of early settlement. It was not in the conspicuous and abnormal events of the world that he figured, but in the commonplace routine of duty, in the fulfillment of his obligations as a man and citizen, and he deserves an enduring place in this historical record.

It was on Christmas Day, 1913, that William Perry Baker went to his final reward. He was born on a farm near Bucyrus in Crawford County, Ohio, August 14, 1838, and had therefore completed three-quarters of a century of life. His parents were Benajah and Mary (Houck) Baker, and of their nine children only one is still left. In 1852 the family moved from Ohio to Jasper County, Indiana. This county was then sparsely settled, only a comparatively few farms had been broken out from the wood and the prairies, and all life and customs were still on a primitive basis. The Baker family were not rich when they came to Jasper County and their first location was on the farm now owned by Grantville Moody. Several years later the father acquired land of his own, and in the more than sixty years since their advent the name has always stood for solid attainments.

Since he was fourteen years of age until his death William Perry Baker was a resident of Jasper County. On May 2, 1856, he married Maria Rees. He was an exceptionally hard working and industrious man. Both he and his wife lived exemplary lives and through their frugality accumulated considerable property. Mr. Baker was on of the old-fashioned characters now fast passing away. With only limited schooling, he possessed an unusual fund of good practical sense. His marked characteristics were his love of home, his industry and economy, and his rigid and unswerving honesty and his unblemished character as a man and citizen.

Mrs. Baker was born May 29, 1844 in Barkley Township of Jasper County, a member of one of the first pioneer families. Her parents were Major John and Eliza G (Hogue) Rees, who found a home in Barkley Township along with or soon after the coming of the very first settlers. Mrs. Baker grew to womanhood in Jasper County, became one of the early teachers, and was her husbands valuable aid in many of his business transactions. She died October 9, 1914. She was a Presbyterian in early training, but in later life with her husband joined the Methodist Church.

The Rees family was a mingled Scotch and Welsh ancestry, and in the various generation back as far as record goes there was a minister of the Presbyterian faith in almost regular succession. Eliza G. Hogue, the mother of Mrs. Baker, was of a family that settled in Virginia, probably near Richmond, in colonial days, and she herself was a native of that state. The Houges became extensive planters and slave owners. Rev. Mr. Hogue, the grandfather of Mrs. Rees, left to each of his children, among other property, two slaves. For forty years or more he had charge of one church in old Virginia.

To Mr. and Mrs. Baker were born two children. The son, Lawrence W., is now a resident in the West. Vivian, the daughter married Clement Taylor Boicourt, and is now living in Rensselear, Indiana. She is the mother of three children: Loren Edward, Hillman Eugene and Frances Leona. Mrs. Boicourt is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Clement T. Boicourt was a native of White County, Indiana, born near Wolcott July 15, 1874. He grew to manhood there and received a practical education, having been a graduate of the Wolcott High School. He later entered a dry goods store and continued as a salesman for some times, and it was while engaged as a clerk that he became acquainted with Miss Vivian Baker, to whom he was married on the 3^rd of February, 1903. He then engaged in the dry goods business in Wolcott, thus continuing from 1903 to 1914, and closing out the business only on account of ill health. Soon after the death of his father-in-law, William P. Baker, he moved to Rensselaer with his family, and resided there until his death, May 4, 1915. Mr. Boicourt was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which he joined when but ten years of age, and continued as a faithful member. He was a gentleman of the strictest integrity and honor, and he was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, and his friends and acquaintances were many. At his death he left a father, E. J. Boicourt, and a step-mother at Wolcott, also a brother at Beach Wood, Indiana, and his widow and three children.
